A continued System of White Supremacism along with an unchanged Agenda is still dictating Change in America 🇺🇸 🪙🪙🪙🪙

Like many Americans, I was overly joyed and ecstatic after reading in the news that one of the most iconic story-telling authors in American history would be featured on a coin in the United States of America. This achievement was a definite milestone advancement for an American society that has been tremendously underrepresented by Black Americans who have tirelessly worked to change the course of American history by their individual and inspirational acts of bravery. Unfortunately, despite Black people being conductors of many of the most notable historic events in U.S. history, Black Americans have settled for African American hero’s being subjected to the American mailing postal stamp as a national form of honor and memory of some of America’s greatest contributors to humanity.

When we think of great American writers, one would be remiss in forgetting to mention other phenomenal writers such as James Baldwin, who also used his pens and pad to write his feelings while recording his version of the truth. Mr. Baldwin was an activist that stood firm and was often outcast simply because his account of his experience in America was much different from the ideal “American Dream” that had been publicly sold. James Baldwin also stood for justice during some of the most turbulent times in American history.

Dr. Maya Angelou, for all of her brilliance, accolades, activism, and poetic prominence, being featured on the U.S. Quarter is undoubtedly a major accomplishment; yet it is also a historic breakthrough for a nation that has been without representation of some of its greatest history makers.

Dr. Angelou who was greatly known for her prolific poetry, is also the first Black woman to be featured on a U.S. coin, as her picture is opposite (or tail side) of a portrait of President George Washington. While Americans celebrate a landmark achievement, it is also important to acknowledge the efforts of ones who made this moment possible, like California Democrat Rep. Barbara Lee. Mrs. Lee was influential in introducing the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020. This Act would feature 5 history-making American women which include Dr. Maya Angelou, Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Nina Otero-Warren, and Anna May Warren. The successful passing of this bill in January 2021, was greatly due to the works of Rep. Lee, along with others who effectively made this moment in American history a reality.

I believe that all of these great women are definitely worthy of this prestigious honor, however, I often wonder why America has an issue with displaying undisputed Black Champions on their own stage and alone. Have African Americans not accomplished enough to still be issued change from a dollar, when we are more than responsible for generating the dollar bill in America?

As we become more familiar with the stories of those who were victorious in our Black History discoveries, it is also important that we remember the innocent victims of hate such as Emmett Till and not forget that there is also an Emmett Till Antilynching Act, that was introduced on 01/04/2021, by Democrat Rep. Bobby L. Rush (IL). Please request and demand action.

It is just as important that our leaders in positions of power are pushing for progress daily in Washington, to ensure that our voices are not only heard but are also effectively utilized with a common agenda of ending generational obstacles faced by Black people in America.

It is critical that we begin to think of innovative ways of incorporating untraditional and unsought after American history into the school studies of American students nationwide, so that unknown history is able to be appropriately appreciated. Just as we are all aware, America is home to such an esteemed and highly celebrated list of early history makers; yet one could easily argue that the heroic actions of Harriet Tubman on the Underground Railroad alone would be more than deserving of placing her on the $20 bill. It is within the discovery of her unmatched leadership which was carried out during the Combahee River Raid, that separated Harriet Tubman from every other highly decorated American hero. It is merely impossible for anyone today to understand the true magnitude of her mission of freedom and how it was able to be so successful in exceeding so many astronomical goals. It is then that you began to realize, there is absolutely no doubt that Harriet Tubman stands alone at the top of the mountain, head, and shoulders above every military honoree, freedom fighter, and humanitarian in American history. Mrs. Tubman deserves the Military Medal of Honor for her extraordinary actions, which are unrivaled by any other man or woman in American history.

Many times it is necessary to remind our youth that there is so much inspirational Black History that has been hidden from an uninformed American society, but none greater than the incredible works of Mrs. Tubman.

We can not forget that Harriet Tubman triumphantly led a military mission in South Carolina on June 1-2 1863, where she engineered and was greatly responsible for rescuing and freeing over 700 human beings. These 700 plus men, women, and children were enslaved; however, thanks to the efforts of Harriet Tubman, Col. James Montgomery, the 2nd S.C. Volunteer Infantry, and the 3rd Rhode island Artillery; captives were all safely taken to freedom. What makes this incredible feat so remarkable is that it was accomplished in the heart of the enemy’s territory, in the Confederacy of South Carolina.

After an extensive review of some of these incredible yet unknown events, one is able to quickly conclude that Harriet Tubman is more than deserving of her own bill. It would be fitting and honorable of the United States of America to respectfully commemorate the memory of Mrs. Tubmans on her 200th birthday, by printing a first of its kind $200 bill featuring Mrs. Tubman on both sides. I understand that some may consider this thought to be wishful thinking and some may also believe that placing Harriet Tubman on an incorporated $200 bill would be extreme, but a $200 bill honoring her legacy and so much more is rightfully owed to Mrs. Harriet Tubman. This leads me to another little-known fact about Mrs. Tubman that saddens the heart when considering the fact that she was only paid $200 for 3 years of services to the United States of America. Placing Mrs. Tubman on a $200 bill at this point is the very least that America can do to give back to Harriet Tubman for her uncelebrated triumphant American history. Although a minimal payment to Mrs. Tubman is factual information and very difficult to imagine, especially given the fact that Mrs. Tubman wore so many hats and was so very vital to victory. Mrs. Tubman displayed impeccable leadership that masterminded an effective plan that ended up being instrumental in defeating the Confederacy during the Civil War.

I have never understood why America feels the need to slow the official progress of its people by dictating what an ideal American agenda of change should exemplify and who should be included. This is even more disappointing once you think that the citizens of this nation have already spoken and the Harriet Tubman Twenty Dollar Bill was due to have already been released and circulating among the American people. Nevertheless, America has made a decision to ignore the enormous history of a woman whose legendary stories of triumphant were already neglected by an American agenda that has attempted to cover up and hide the facts. Now America “literally” intends on issuing change to the American people, despite owing so much more. Once we educate ourselves to truth and conduct a more extensive review of American History, we will find that Benjamin Franklin was never a United States President, yet he is celebrated and honored as such. Ben Franklin graces the cover of the U.S. Twenty Dollar bill for far less of a contribution to American history than that of Harriet Tubman.

Despite the humiliating level of disrespect by the U.S. Government in refusing to appropriately honor the history of Harriet Tubman, I am proud to announce that the city of Philadelphia, PA will be one of the first major U.S. cities recognized for its commitment to changing the American culture. The city of Philadelphia plans to honor Harriet Tubman with a 200th birthday celebration. Additionally, Philadelphia has also added a very beautiful Nine feet tall bronze traveling monument of Harriet Tubman which displays the wording, “The Journey to Freedom,” underneath the foundation in which Mrs. Tubman and an unknown child stands.

Journey to Freedom’ by Wesley Wofford.

The traveling monument (Above) isn’t just about the Great City of Brotherly Love leading the way with actions of meaningful change, however, it is about a great city in America that once extended its hand to help those escaping slavery in the South. Philadelphia also represents a monumental mission of change that is paying homage while giving back to one of the most courageous women this world has ever known in Harriet Tubman.

Respectively, American citizens do not need a government who stands in the way of official progress and healing of the nation; which is greatly due to the anxieties of those in power seemingly being afraid of American citizens discovering generations of concealed truths, that are capable of exposing the true perpetrators of separation.

Fear of the unknown is a huge misconception that America has traditionally used against its citizens and one of the methods of choice is by, spreading false narratives and persuading its people that most aren’t psychologically ready for the Harriet Tubman $20 bill. Meanwhile, all of the money that has ever been printed inside of America, has featured the face of a slaveholder. I would like to believe, in 2022, that America has moved forward and would willfully promote a woman who is the undisputed torch-bearing Champion of Freedom in the United States.

The real challenge to America in the near future will be in openly showing accountability for past immoral actions against Black people, by genuinely taking measures of effective actions of change in efforts of advancing the American people. Harriet Tubman is a woman of true honor whose transcendent works even exceeded the expectations of those who sought her capture, yet these are the people that we have allowed to ignore one of the greatest triumphs of all time, at the Combahee. Black people in America at one point seemed unbothered with those who enslaved our ancestors being able to omit stories that are capable of inspiring the world, but today we must stand and demand that the legend of Harriet Tubman be celebrated and honored by adding to history without the battle of another man’s history. Mrs. Harriet Tubman’s incredible works make her more than eligible and worthy of being featured on an incorporated $200 bill. The Harriet Tubman $200 bill would be symbolic of both the unbelievable amount in which she was paid, and it would also celebrate the 200th year since the birth of the Greatest American hero Harriet “Araminta” Tubman.
