The first BLACK MEN-MORIAL Day Weekend has substantial significance!

Each year on Memorial Day in the United States, Americans traditionally pause to honor and mourn the memories of soldiers who have died while serving their country. However, in most cases, many Black American veterans, servicemen, and citizens alike, feel as though Black military personal are defending a country abroad, that has not been nearly as faithful to them at home. This isn’t a new notion; Black soldiers have never felt appreciated by the authority in which we have fought for. Going all the way back to the Civil War in the 1860s, and every subsequential battle that has ever occurred in American history, our issues have remained unchanged here on our homelands. Even after so many Black soldiers had been disproportionately sent to the front lines during Vietnam War (1955-1975), they too, came home to communities that were unsupportive of them. It seems that there hasn’t been any rest for the Black American soldier, as his life continues to be disrespected and unprotected in the United States.

In late January 2024, three Black soldiers from the state of Georgia were killed in Jordan by a drone strike, while there were also dozens of others injured.

As a result of the American judicial system being so notoriously unjust to Black people for centuries past, most find it hard to sympathize with Black Americans who have made the choice to defend, represent, or connect themselves to the same system that has been responsible for damaging and destroying an ever-extending list of innocent Black American men and women. This idea might explain, why there hasn’t been the same outcry after the death of Roger Fortson (murdered on 5/3/24), as there was for George Floyd (murdered in 2020).

Even today, the majority of Black Americans still feel disconnected from all forms of American Government, which many feel that does not represent them. How can you blame Black people for feeling this way? After all, the United States Government has sent millions of dollars of assistance to foreign countries such as Ukraine, and Israel. Meanwhile, no one has addressed the ongoing generational obstructions that continue to plaque the lives of Black Americans daily. There has been a total of ten United States Presidents since 1960, and not one of the Presidental debates have seriously focused on an agenda to build, or better Black America. Nevertheless, Black people have avoided the fact that no one has committed to improving the unfair circumstances that we face.

In 2020, less than one month after starting my nonprofit organization, the Men Of Color Having Answers Foundation (M.O.C.H.A.), there was the horrific murder of George Floyd, at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. Four years later, the inhumane execution of U.S. Senior Airman Roger Fortson, who was murdered by an unidentified Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy in his own home, is just as tragic.

I’ve discovered that one of the primary reasons that Black American truth isn’t publicly recognized, and therefore unobserved by mainstream America, is because we have neglected to effectively acknowledge our own struggles, while thoughtlessly engaging in celebrations that showcase the customs of every other culture. We have participated in traditions that have ignored our hardships, and therefore, the presence of the people that we support outside our communities has been non-existent; at times, when Black neighborhoods have been ravaged by racism. Our support of the traditions of other ethnicities of races doesn’t in any way, help to advance Black American Heritages. Black Americans must understand that the very few observed calendar dates which remember notable Black Americans, are already scarce, at best.

If we are not preserving our own history, then how is it possible for our true story to survive overtime? Who are we waiting on, to create a day of remembrance for the victims of a racist system of hate? The same people who are telling you that their killings of Black men are justified, are not going to create a day for you to remember the extensive terrorism inflicted upon the people you love. No, they are doing everything in their power to ensure that you forget that their racially infused crimes ever happened. We must remember that there are Black families all across America, who are grieving the losses of their sons and daughters, and unfortunately there is not one observed day in which the mothers and the families of the victims can take a day to honor the memories of a loved one who was murdered, as a result of the color of his skin.

We must create our own celebrations, events, and ceremonies that honor the memory of those whose lives were taken way too soon.

BLACK MEN-MORIAL Weekend 2024, let’s also remember the forgotten Soldiers of the struggle of being BLACK in America (5/25-5/26).

I’m HUMBLY asking that you help the Men Of Color Having Answers Foundation (M.O.C.H.A.) to continue to spread a message of INDEPENDENCE and ADVANCEMENT to Black American citizens, as we continue to discover Solutions to end our most difficult obstructions.

Please add your support to the ONLY Organization in America dedicated to offering Solutions to end generational obstacles faced by Black Americans.
